reCAPTCHA is a free service provided by Google that can help protect your forms from spam.
Copper has integrated with reCAPTCHA v2, which provides a simple "I am not a robot" checkbox. This is more user-friendly than selecting images or entering text.
This guide will walk through how to add reCAPTCHA to your form, including:
💡 Tip:
You'll be copy-pasting API keys from Google Workspace into the Copper forms builder. We recommend opening Copper Forms in one tab and the reCAPTCHA console in another tab to make it easy to copy and paste these keys.
Setting up reCAPTCHA in your Google Workspace Admin console
If you do not have access to the Google Workspace Admin console, please reach out to your IT team or administrator to determine who manages your Google Workspace account. They can complete these steps for you and provide the API keys you need to add reCAPTCHA to your Copper form.
Go to the Google reCAPTCHA site ↗
Give the site a label that will help you identify it if you have multiple protected sites. For example, "Copper Form".
Choose Challenge (v2) as the reCAPTCHA type with the "I am not a robot" Checkbox option, as shown below
Add your domains
‼️ You must add forms.copper.com‼️ in addition to your company website domain, as shown below
Click Submit
Once you've completed these steps, you'll receive 2 API Keys: a Site Key and a Secret Key. You will need both to add the reCAPTCHA to your Copper form in the next step.
The Secret Key is only generated once. If, at any time, you change any settings that require the regeneration of this key, you will need to copy and paste the updated Secret Key into the Copper forms builder.
Adding reCAPTCHA to your Copper form
Navigate to Forms from the left-hand menu in the Copper web app
In the Build step, scroll down to the reCAPTCHA option and enable it, as shown below
Paste your Site Key and your Secret Key into the correct boxes –– be sure to double-check this, as each key must go in the right box.
Publish your form
You do not need to re-paste your code snippet if your form is already on your site. Simply Save & Publish Changes – the form will be updated with the reCAPTCHA.
💡 Tip:
If you have multiple Copper Forms on the same domain (e.g., www.company.com), you can use the same API key pair. For forms on different domains, we recommend registering them separately and obtaining unique API key pairs.
