You can pause an email automation at any time from multiple places:
- From the list of automations 
- From the details panel, which is also accessible from your Pipelines 
When you pause an automation, emails will stop sending immediately.
A paused automation:
- Will not send any emails until it is set live again 
- Will not continue to update the To Send tab 
- Will continue to update the Opened, Clicked, Replied, and Errors tabs for emails that were sent before the automation was paused 
When you set a paused automation live, the automation will:
- Check to see if any new contacts have matched or unmatched the criteria 
- Check if the delay on step 1 has passed for any contacts. If it has, the emails will be sent 
- Resume sending emails within the hour - Business plan only: This includes contacts who were in the middle of a multi-step automation
