Use saved views, weekly updates, tasks, and notes to keep your pipeline clean and focused. These habits help you spend less time sorting through opportunities and more time moving the right deals forward.
Start with a focused pipeline view
Open your pipeline and use a saved view such as My Open Opportunities to view only your individual pipeline. This removes extra noise and lets you focus on the opportunities you own or need to review.
You can also create custom filters for specific workflows. For example, use Tags to track a campaign like Spring Outreach, or ask an admin to create a custom field for information your team needs to manage.
Block time for pipeline updates
Set aside a recurring block of time each week to clean up your pipeline. Friday afternoon is often a good time to review the deals you worked on during the week.
During this review, update key details such as:
Stage: move opportunities forward when they progress.
Close date: adjust dates when timelines change.
Value: keep expected revenue accurate.
Status: mark opportunities as won, lost, or abandoned when needed.
Create tasks and reminders
Tasks are a quick way to remind yourself of the next step on an opportunity.
Open your pipeline view.
Find the opportunity card.
Click the task icon.
Enter the task name.
Choose a due date.
For example, you might create a reminder to follow up with a contact after a demo.
Use Google Calendar reminders
Copper tasks can appear on your Google Calendar, helping you stay on track even when you are not actively working in Copper. When the reminder appears, you can use the link in the calendar event to go back to the related task or opportunity.
Managers can also create tasks for teammates when an opportunity needs an update or follow-up.
Add notes to opportunities
Use the opportunity activity feed to log updates, calls, and notes. This keeps important context with the opportunity instead of storing it in a separate notepad or document.
After a call or new update, open the opportunity, go to Activity, and add a note or log the activity.
Best practices
Use saved filters to focus on the opportunities that matter most.
Schedule a recurring weekly pipeline cleanup.
Create tasks for every important next step.
Log notes directly on the opportunity.
Managers can assign tasks to teammates when follow-up is needed.
Now that we've developed our pipeline practices, next we'll look at how to conduct Pipeline Review and Forecasting Revenue.
